The Social & Emotional Skills Academy terms and conditions

The Social & Emotional Skills Academy aims to offer an inclusive environment for learners to learn useful life skills via online education delivery. We are united by a desire to help children be better versions of themselves. We want to see a safe space for everyone in our community. These are guidelines we want our community to observe and policies that needs to be abided with, to continue to provide our service.

Sessions

Attending a session is entirely at you and your child or children’s own risk. During sessions you should be able to support your child if necessary. Sessions are planned to ensure that activities and resources are accessible, inclusive and of value to everyone regardless of race, culture, language, gender, age, experience, religion, background, ability or disability.

Our Policies

Only children (less than 18 years) may take our classes. No one will be allowed in class unless the teacher can visually verify their identity at the start of each and every class. Names must match your learner’s name, so please ensure your learner's first name is correctly displayed on the Zoom meeting. (​​It violates our policy for a learner to use their sibling’s or another learner’s enrolment to attend class).

For security reasons, please ensure your child has their video camera on as they log in to class. A critical step to protecting the classroom community is to verify through a video check- that each participant is in fact a child (less than 18). Please ensure your learner can put on their video at the beginning for the class for this important verification. They can choose to have their cameras off afterwards during the class, dependent on the nature of class.

For the protection and privacy of other learners taking classes, we ask that adults not engage in on-camera conversations with other learners/teachers. Also discussion with a teacher should be limited to troubleshooting which should be minimal during sessions.

Supervise your learners from a comfortable distance while they attend class until you’re confident they can participate safely and respectfully on their own. Parents and non-registered siblings should be reasonably off-camera as a courtesy to other learners to maintain a comfortable learning environment and not distract from classroom activity.

Cancellation/Refunds of sessions. If the Teacher is unable to attend sessions for any reason a refund will be issued, (this can take between 5-10 days) or monies will be transferred to another session. Parents/carers wishing to cancel an attendance at any club, activity, or event must provide at least 7 days' notice prior to the scheduled date. No makeup class is offered for any missed sessions or activities. Refunds or credits will not be provided for cancellations made less than 7 days before the event or for no-shows

Sickness and Holidays. The social & emotional skills Academy is unable to offer discounts or refunds due to learners’ holiday or sickness.

Withdrawal of sessions. Abusive and inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated. If behaviour is deemed abusive or inappropriate by the teacher the learner will be removed from the session and monies will not be refunded.

Photographs , video’s and confidentiality. During sessions, please do not take photos and videos of other children and be mindful if you post photos on social media that photos only include your child or children.

Expectations from Learners

· Be kind: Help all learners feel welcome and included.

· Be safe: Keep your personal information private and never ask other learners for theirs (e.g., full name, email address, house address, phone number, gamer tags, social media handles etc.).

· Be respectful: Treat others how you want to be treated. Dress in a manner appropriate for class. Language must be appropriate. Turn audio off when you are requested to.

General Data Protection Regulation Policy (GDPR)

The Social & Emotional Skills Academy uses BookWhen (www.bookwhen.com/thesocialemotionalskillsacademy) as a booking system. During the process of booking, we ask for this information: full name, email address, Child’s name and agreement to the terms and conditions. The Social & Emotional Skills Academy receives this data during the booking stage on BookWhen. This information is stored on our secure BookWhen account. The reason we save this data is so that we can provide a safe, inclusive and happy service to you. This data is not shared with anyone else or any other company.

Keeping data secure

Private information collected during the booking and payment process is stored on BookWhen. BookWhen have their own privacy policy that can be found here: https://bookwhen.com/privacy. Session registers are printed from BookWhen, which will include the information provided during initial bookings. Any data The Social & Emotional Skills Academy holds on you, can be deleted on request and can be requested , please allow 28 days days’ notice for this information to be provided.

Changes to our Terms and conditions

This policy may change, Booking a session assumes that you agree to abide by our terms and conditions, so please check this before booking a session.
